Note: the Shimuno Canyon hike occurred on day seven and is mentioned in the entry on Crystal Rapid. Side excursions like this tend to be story-light and picture-heavy and easier to feature separately.
We secure the rafts and follow a short trail to the water. Then it’s feet first and forward towards the rocks ahead.
The clear water is a marvel after the silty brown of the Colorado River. The temperature is warmer than the river, too, and walking in the ankle-to-knee deep water is a pleasure.
Our reward: a beautiful waterfall! We swim, play, and let the pounding water massage our weary shoulders.
